The FAMEX 5525 Folding Saw is a type of Kataba saw. These Japanese saws are considered "all-rounders" and are very popular. In Japan, Kataba saws are commonly used in carpentry. The Kataba Japanese saw is excellent for cutting and miter work. Another advantage: The saw is foldable, allowing for cuts at three different angles.
The Pull-Cut System:
The Japanese folding saw works with a pull-cut motion. This means, unlike Western saws that are used with push movements, the folding saw is operated by pulling. This allows for more precise and controlled cuts. The folding saw is ideal for creating contact surfaces when making miter cuts, notching, or creating steps for overlapping glue joints.
The Saw Blade:
The saw blade is much thinner and more flexible compared to European saws. This results in less effort needed, and the cuts are fast and clean. The extremely thin and flexible blade also allows for flush cuts, making it easy and efficient to remove protruding pieces. The blade is made from high-quality carbon steel and features a chrome-plated surface. The electronically impulse-hardened teeth ensure a longer lifespan.
Special Teeth Design:
The teeth tips are diamond-ground, making the special "SHARK" tooth design with three cutting edges extremely sharp. This minimizes the chance of rough, splintered edges. As a result, reworking is rarely needed. The tooth count of the folding saw is 15 teeth per inch, which is coarse enough for fast, efficient wood removal but fine enough for very precise cuts.
